ECMO Equipment

ECMO Equipment

The CHSF recently funded some ECMO equipment costing £26,500. Stephen Hansbro of the Clinical Perfusion Department stated – “The Chalice ECMO Trolley is a compact mobile heart lung machine suitable for both paediatric and adult patients. The ECMO trolley contains a pump, which acts as an artificial heart, pushing the blood through a membrane oxygenator, which acts as an artificial lung, removing carbon dioxide and adding oxygen before returning it to the patient.

It can provide support to rest the patient’s heart so it is not under any stress allowing it time to recover”. Photograph shows Sharon Cheng (Charity Director) and Tracy Massey from the Department.

Psychology Post

We are delighted to announce that the CHSF will be funding a new Clinical Psychologist to join the existing team, so psychological support can be offered more to children and their families. The CHSF are supporting the Paediatric Psychology team in helping children across the region to meet their potential, achieved through the advances surgical and medical treatment now give them.
