Royal Brompton Announcement

The Children's Heart Surgery Fund is delighted the Royal Brompton Hospital has won its High Court bid to seek a judicial review into the decision to close its children's heart surgery unit.

The case to retain services at the LGI has never been stronger as we believe the consultation process has been fundamentally flawed and full of inaccuracies. This decision only hardens our resolve to safeguard the life saving services in Leeds which serves a population of almost 14 million people across the North of England.
We will continue to make sure the voices of the 600,000 people who signed the petition to keep the unit open, including patients, councillors, parents and doctors, are heard by working closely with ministers and decision makers.
Whilst we welcome the decision, it does mean there is going to be a further period of uncertainty over the future of the unit.
